Modify NotesIs there a way to change the Note types (defaults are Fundraising or Followups), or track additional information than what is provided as defaults in that window? Secondly, is there a way to compile a list of all note-based reminders? Perhaps within a certain date range and perhaps limiting the query to only those notes/reminders of a certain "type" such as "followups"? I am not asking about SQL language- I am asking if there is the capability to customize this ODB feature and secondarily, where the data is stored, what the field names are, so that the data can be accessed/reported in mass. To clarify the second question, I see the "Reminders Pending" button and the list that produces, but I am looking to export, archive, and search this list of reminders- or really, their corresponding notes. For example, our youth membership organization is looking to track periodic Leadership Goal Sheets (LGS) that each youth must complete to retain her active membership and move up in terms of involvement and responsibilities. Our idea is to use the Notes and Reminders feature in ODB to track the LGS, provide reminders to the staff in advance of scheduling the LGS interview, etc. The notes and reminders is a great feature that I think will also be very useful to us in tracking phone conversations, recruitments, etc. Thanks for the assistance. |
hi Mike -- The note types
hi Mike --
The note types are completely customizable. Just go into the adv. search screen for notes, after turning code changes on. This is documented in the manual.
This screen allows you to search for notes -- however the ability to search for reminders is a bit different from searching for notes. The good news is that it can be done... through an internal field whose name I need to look up. I can look it up for you by late tomorrow -- but from memory I think the field is called "isreminder".
However the default search screen for notes forces the query to exclude notes where isreminder=true.
It might be possible for us to devise a workaround for you; alternatively you could write reports using the Access report engine for this.

Thanks Rich, I think this
Thanks Rich,
I think this takes care of it. My main concern was being able to export lists of notes from different queries, and that is definitely built into the advanced search screen.
Something that would improve functionality from our end, is the ability to add essentially the same note (or a "clone" note) to multiple contacts (using a selection or query to execute a mass action). Any ideas on this? Also the ability to delete reminders if need be, which seem to stick around after deleting the parent note.
